Explore how community integration through local events, activities, and education can enhance social connections, foster engagement, and promote a sense of belonging. Supported living in Birmingham, West Sussex and Leicestershire

At Prosperity Housing Group, we believe that living independently is just the start. The real magic happens when our service users become part of their local community,  making friends, trying new things, and discovering new opportunities. That’s why we put a big focus on community integration helping our service users  get out there and enjoy everything their local area has to offer.

Why Is Community Participation So Important?

Think about the last time you tried something new or went to a local event. How did it make you feel? More connected, happier, and more alive, right? For many of our service users, participating in community activities can be a real game-changer. It’s about more than just filling time it’s about building confidence, making friends, and feeling like you truly belong.

Whether it’s joining a local club, volunteering at a community garden, or attending a weekly art class, getting involved in local activities helps create a sense of purpose and joy. It’s about turning your community into a place where you feel comfortable, supported, and excited to be.

Fun Activities and Opportunities We Encourage

Here are some of the ways we help service usersget involved:

1. Attending Local Events & Fairs

From summer fairs to Christmas markets, there’s always something happening nearby. We support service users to attend these events accompanied by our support workers, it allows them to meet new people, and enjoy the fun.

2. Joining Clubs & Hobby Groups

Love music, gardening, cooking, or sports? We help service users find local clubs or groups that match their interests. Whether it’s a book club at the library or a beginner’s yoga class, trying new hobbies can be a great way to make friends.

3. Volunteering in the Community

Giving back feels good! We support service usersto volunteer at local charities, community centers, or clean-up days. It’s a wonderful way to meet others and make a positive difference.

4. Exploring Education & Skills Courses

Interested in learning something new? We help service users to  find courses like painting and decorating, or driving lessons at local colleges or community centers. We have one service user who is taking driving lessons and one service user who has completed his painting and decorating college course

5. Finding Employment & Volunteering Roles

Looking to work or volunteer? We connect service users with local businesses and organizations, helping them find roles that suit their skills and interests. We also offer support with CV writing,

interview prep, and workplace skills.

6. Participating in Support Groups & Social Events

Sometimes, just getting together with others who share your experiences can be uplifting. We encourage joining local support groups or social meetups to share stories and build strong friendships. We have a service user who attends a local club and she volunteers to support new attendees.

Why It Matters

Getting involved in the community isn’t just about filling your day, it’s about transforming your life.
